Sisyphus is happy
Varsha Gandla
Chasing the clouds,
Counting the stars
I dragged my feet,
I dragged my boat
Longing the sea,
Cruising the blue.
Falling stars and rising tides
Everywhere i see, I see it all.
Stars abed on the waters
Clouds ahead of the waves.
A merge of the universe
I call you love
And you call out to me.
I drag my feet
I drag my boat.
Guiding stars
Drifting waves.
But, my love, why are you always away.
You seem so far but you are everywhere
I drag and drag but to no avail.
Hailing storms
Blowing winds
I am thrown to the left
I am thrown to the right.
I go above and I go beyond
I sink yet rise
I cry yet laugh.
Yet, and yet my love, why can't I reach you?
You are everywhere and I feel you in my everything.
Why, though I ache, you don't vex me?
Is it because I am already at home,
With you, as a part of you?
Am I the Sisyphus of the ocean?
Am I to drift my eternity in you with no negotiation?
So, it is true then.
Sisyphus is happy.
