A work of science fiction, a sub-genre of speculative fiction, by definition involves an imagined scientific or technological advance. As we know from the digital revolution, such advances carry the potential to radically change society and social relations, for good or bad. An eye-opening session on the imagined societies in recent Indian science fiction, why their authors chose to create them, what they say about today's world and, more generally, the genre's extensive potential for critiquing contemporary politics.
