An exploration of the life's work of one of the world's most pre-eminent travel writers, who has said that he is most comfortable in the "conspiracies between cultures”. His books about places near and far are simultaneously a meditation on the human condition and a quest to discover the self. "We travel initially to lose ourselves; and we travel next to find ourselves,” he has said. This peripatetic author has written equally lyrically about the need to slow down and sit still. The session unravels the mystery of these apparently contradictory impulses in his body of work.
