Joanne Yang is a Chinese-Australian poet, high school teacher and podcast host. She was the 2022 Australian Poetry Slam Champion, and finalist in the 2023 World Poetry Slam Championship. Her work is influenced by her Chinese identity and her role as an educator. She believes that the rawness of being human is best expressed through the spoken word.
